Big Enough For a Plan

Now that Alexander weighs over 9lbs, 5oz, the surgeon has made a tentative plan for fixing the lip.  We will go to the dentist on September 15th to have the mold of his mouth made.  The mold then gets sent to Canada to make the appliance.  In about three weeks (so they say), it will be back in Lubbock and the surgeon will put it in the roof of his mouth to start correcting his dental arch.

It will probably have to be in his mouth for about a month and then he'll have the surgery on his lip.

We are thinking the whole process can probably be done by Thanksgiving.  The palate will not be worked on until Alexander is 15 months old.

So, with a plan and good weight gain, everyone is sleeping a little more soundly and for longer over night!

The beginning of the semester is super busy for both Mom and Dad, but we are making it with each other's help and rotating our work schedules.
We better all rest up this week, because starting next Thursday, we'll be celebrating Booker's 90th birthday all weekend!  We are really excited about showing Alexander Mom's hometown with a Mexican street dance, a his first football game, bed races, a parade, good food, friends, family, another dance, church and a baby shower to meet everyone.  Plenty of pictures and stories of our trip to come after Labor Day!

4 Weeks and a New Blog

Bigg Happy Family (some happier looking than others)
Thanks for checking out the new blog.  Sorry for the confusion, but we all agreed a move was in our best interest and hope to continue updating everyone on the growth and fun times of the newest Biggs.
Alexander Harrison is now 4 weeks old and weighs 9lbs 5oz!!  We are very excited that our Little Biggs is growing well now and no longer having to eat from a tube or syringe.  We are working on ordering more special nipples for him, but he is doing well with the ones he has now and is still mostly a breastmilk baby.
This week, Jason worked Monday, Tuesday and Friday so Stephani could work Wednesday and Thursday.  Jason did a great job staying home with Alexander and Sampson.  Stephani tried to get a little caught up after missing three weeks of work and tried to prepare for her busiest time next week.  Jason will work this weekend and Monday-Wednesday doing Fall recruitment.  Stephani goes back for registration, first day of classes and craziness.  We are taking turns working and parenting until Nana and Bumpa Biggs get here to play with Alexander everyday.
Alexander goes back to the surgeon on Tuesday.  We hope to find out more about the procedures to correct the lip and more about the timeline for both the lip and the palate.
All in all, things are going really well here.  Alexander is hanging out in his swing that he loves!  Mom and Dad are learning to get things done during the day and even run a couple of errands here and there.  I think we'll go for a walk or two this weekend.  Sampson is loving Alexander's new found mobility.
